In addition to (alâve bar inke, zemn-e inke)

When juggling a busy schedule, you often need to describe doing one task in addition to another.

Using "In addition to" (علاوه بر اینکه)

To say "in addition to doing [X]," use علاوه بر اینکه. Because this conjunction introduces a dependent clause, the verb that follows it must be in the subjunctive mood.

Using "While" or "Along with" (ضمن اینکه)

Another common conjunction is ضمن اینکه. It translates to "while," "along with," or "in the course of," and emphasizes balancing two responsibilities at the same time. Like علاوه بر اینکه, it requires the subjunctive.

Placement in the Sentence

These conjunctions often appear at the beginning of a sentence, but they can also sit inside the main clause. The dependent verb remains in the subjunctive regardless of placement.
