Questions & Answers about Mijn hele lichaam tintelt nu.
How would I turn this sentence into an emphatic exclamation using an of-clause, as taught in this lesson?
You would say Of mijn hele lichaam nu tintelt! (Boy, is my whole body tingling now!). To do this, you start with of and use subordinate clause word order, which pushes the conjugated verb (tintelt) to the very end of the sentence.
Lichaam is a het-word. Why is it mijn hele lichaam instead of mijn heel lichaam?
Adjectives before a singular het-word only drop the -e ending when they follow an indefinite article (een), geen, or no article at all. Because you are using the possessive pronoun mijn, it acts like a definite article, so the adjective gets the standard -e ending.
The verb is tintelen (to tingle). Why doesn't the stem double the l to keep the preceding vowel short?
The second e in tintelen is a schwa (a weak, unstressed "uh" sound). Dutch spelling rules state that you do not double the consonant after an unstressed schwa. Therefore, the stem remains tintel, and we just add a -t for the present tense.
If I wanted to emphasize nu by putting it at the beginning, how would the sentence change?
