Questions & Answers about Nu de enquête klaar is, onderzoeken we de minderheid ook niet.

Does Nu mean 'now that' all by itself?

Yes! While English uses 'now that', Dutch often just uses nu as a subordinating conjunction. Because it introduces a dependent clause, it pushes the verb is to the end of that clause. You might occasionally hear nu dat in informal speech, but just nu is the standard written form.

Why does the second part of the sentence start with the verb onderzoeken?

This is a classic example of the verb-second (V2) rule. The entire first clause (Nu de enquête klaar is) takes up the first position in the overall sentence. To keep the main verb in the second position, the main clause must immediately start with onderzoeken, causing the subject we to flip behind it.

Can I translate 'not either' as niet ook instead of ook niet?

No, you must use ook niet. In Dutch, when you want to express 'not either' or 'neither' to add an additional negative point, it is always phrased as ook niet. Saying niet ook is grammatically incorrect.
