Why does the word order stay the same after en?

The word en (and) is a coordinating conjunction, which means it joins two equal main clauses. Because of this, it does not push the verb to the end of the clause like subordinating conjunctions such as omdat (because) or dat (that) do.

Does genoeg (enough) always go after the word it modifies?

It always goes immediately after an adjective, just like in English. We say warm genoeg (warm enough). However, when it modifies a noun, it usually comes before the noun, such as genoeg kip (enough chicken).

Why is the chicken described as warm instead of heet if we want it to be hot?
