Questions & Answers about Zij koopt verse vis, zodat haar dieet gezond is.
Why does the verb is go at the very end of the sentence?
The word zodat (so that) is a subordinating conjunction. In Dutch, these types of connecting words introduce a dependent clause and push the verb in that clause to the very end. That is why we say zodat haar dieet gezond is instead of zodat haar dieet is gezond.
Could I use om ... te here, since it also talks about a goal or purpose?
No, because the two parts of the sentence have different subjects! The subject of the first half is zij (she), but the subject of the second half is haar dieet (her diet). You only use om ... te when the subject is exactly the same for both actions. When the subject changes, you must use zodat.
Why do we add an -e to make it verse vis instead of just vers vis?
Vis is a de-word (de vis). In Dutch, when you put an adjective right before a de-word, it almost always gets an extra -e at the end. Since the base adjective is vers (fresh), it becomes verse.
