Questions & Answers about Prijatelji još nisu ovdje.
Why do we use nisu instead of putting ne next to the verb?
For the verb "to be", the negative forms combine into a single word. Instead of saying ne su (which is incorrect), you must use the special negative form nisu (they are not). This matches the plural subject Prijatelji.
How does još mean "yet" in this sentence?
By itself, još usually means "still" or "more". But when you use it with a negative verb like nisu, the phrase još nisu translates naturally to "are not yet" or "still aren't".
Why does the word for friends end in -i?
Prijatelj is the singular word for a masculine "friend". For most masculine nouns in Croatian, you make them plural by adding or changing the ending to -i, which gives us prijatelji.
Why isn't there a word for "the" before Prijatelji?
Croatian does not have definite articles like "the" or indefinite articles like "a" or "an". The single word Prijatelji can mean "friends" or "the friends" depending entirely on the context of the sentence.
