Questions & Answers about Tužit ću vašeg direktora zbog laži.
Why is the verb written as Tužit ću instead of Tužiti ću?
When forming the future tense in Croatian, if the infinitive verb ends in -ti and comes directly before the auxiliary verb (ću, ćeš, će, etc.), the final -i is dropped. So tužiti (to sue) becomes tužit.
Why is the phrase "your director" translated as vašeg direktora?
Vašeg direktora is in the accusative case because it is the direct object of the verb (the person being sued). Because direktor is a masculine animate noun (a living being), both the noun and the possessive pronoun vaš take the animate accusative endings (-a and -eg).
Does the preposition zbog always trigger the genitive case?
Yes! Just like the preposition protiv (against) that you are focusing on in this lesson, the preposition zbog (because of / due to) always requires the noun that follows it to be in the genitive case.
If laž (lie) is a feminine noun, why does its genitive form end in -i (laži)?
