Questions & Answers about Prozor je čist i blistav.
How would this sentence change to fit our current lesson and say "Everything is clean and sparkling"?
You would replace the masculine noun prozor with the universal pronoun sve (everything). Because sve is treated as a neuter singular word, both adjectives must take their neuter endings: Sve je čisto i blistavo.
Why don't the adjectives have the -i ending (čisti i blistavi)?
In Croatian, when an adjective comes directly after the verb to be (je) to describe the subject, it generally takes the indefinite form. For masculine singular adjectives like these describing prozor, this means using the base form that ends in a consonant (čist, blistav) rather than the definite form ending in -i.
How is the word blistav formed?
It comes from the verb blistati (to sparkle or shine). The suffix -av is very common in Croatian for turning verbs or nouns into adjectives that describe a physical characteristic or state.
