In Croatian, the universal pronoun sve (everything) is grammatically neuter singular. Any adjective describing sve must take the neuter singular ending (typically -o).
Notice how the feminine noun renovacija takes the feminine adjective skupa, while sve takes the neuter predivno:
| Although the renovation is expensive, everything is wonderful. | Iako je renovacija skupa, sve je predivno. |
Similarly, a masculine noun like pod (floor) takes a masculine adjective, but sve requires the neuter -o form:
| The new floor is shiny. | Novi pod je sjajan. |
| Everything is shiny and clean! | Sve je sjajno i čisto! |
This rule applies consistently to any adjective describing sve:
| The apartment is spacious, but everything is still empty. | Stan je prostran, ali sve je još uvijek prazno. |
| I am satisfied because everything is ready. | Zadovoljan sam jer je sve spremno. |
| Everything is restored, and the doors are new. | Sve je obnovljeno, a vrata su nova. |
