Why does yeni come before kotu?
In Turkish, just like in English, adjectives always come before the noun they describe. So, "new jeans" is yeni kot, not kot yeni.

It is attached to the end of kotu! The root word for jeans is kot. Adding the possessive ending -u makes it kotu ("his/her/its jeans"). Notice that the adjective yeni stays exactly the same; the possessive ending only goes on the noun.

In Turkish, clothing items that come in pairs, like pants, trousers, or jeans, are treated as singular words. You just use kot to mean a single pair of jeans, so you don't need the plural ending -lar.
