Learn Turkish: Ayarları sıfırladım ama bilgisayar bir türlü kapanmıyor. - I reset the settings, but the computer just won't shut down.

While bilgisayar kapanmıyor simply states a neutral fact ("the computer isn't shutting down"), adding bir türlü introduces a strong sense of frustration and implies repeated, failed attempts. It translates perfectly to "just won't" or "no matter what I do, it won't."

The translation says "won't shut down," which implies inability. Why doesn't the verb use the inability suffix, like kapanamıyor?

Because bir türlü already heavily expresses inability and frustration ("in no way," "somehow not"), the verb itself doesn't strictly need the -ama / -eme inability suffix. While kapanamıyor is also grammatically correct here, using the standard negative kapanmıyor is extremely common because bir türlü does all the heavy lifting for the "cannot/won't" meaning.

Why is the verb kapanmıyor instead of kapatmıyor?

Kapatmak is transitive—it means "to close" or "to shut down" something else. If you said bilgisayar kapatmıyor, it would mean the computer isn't shutting something else down. By adding the reflexive/passive suffix -n to make kapanmak, it means the computer isn't shutting itself down.
