Questions & Answers about Bu çalıştay, sektörün en başarılı uzmanlarını buluşturuyor.
How does the reciprocal-causative stacking work in buluşturuyor?
The verb starts with the root bul- (to find). Adding the reciprocal suffix -uş creates buluş- (to meet, literally 'to find each other'). Then, adding the causative suffix -tur creates buluştur- (to cause to meet, or to bring together). This stacking is exactly how Turkish expresses bringing multiple parties into a mutual action.
Why does uzmanlarını take the accusative case here instead of another case?
The base verb buluşmak (to meet) is intransitive. When an intransitive verb is made causative (buluşturmak), the doer of the original action becomes the direct object. Since the workshop is bringing the experts together, the experts take the definite accusative case.
What exactly are the two -ı suffixes at the end of uzmanlarını?
The first -ı is the third-person possessive suffix, completing the genitive-possessive construction with sektörün (the sector's experts). The -n- is a buffer letter. The final -ı is the accusative case marker, showing that these specific experts are the direct object of the verb buluşturuyor.
Does the suffix -tay in çalıştay mean something specific?
