Questions & Answers about Atılgan gençler her zaman yeni fırsatlar bulabilir.
How is the word atılgan formed in this sentence?
It is built from the verb atılmak, which means "to throw oneself forward," "to dash," or "to venture." The suffix -gan creates an adjective describing someone who has a strong tendency to do this action. Thus, an atılgan person is "assertive," "daring," or "enterprising."
Is the tendency described by atılgan considered a positive or negative trait?
In Turkish, atılgan is generally a positive trait. It praises someone for being proactive, bold, and taking the initiative. If you wanted to describe someone who is aggressively pushy in a negative way, you would use a different -gan adjective, like saldırgan (aggressive).
Why doesn't the sentence say genç insanlar for "young people"?
Adjectives in Turkish can frequently stand alone as nouns. While genç means "young," adding the plural suffix to make gençler perfectly translates to "young people" or "the youth." Adding insanlar (people) is unnecessary and sounds less natural here.
Why is the verb bulabilir singular when the subject (gençler) is plural?
When a plural subject refers to a broad, general category rather than a specific group of individuals doing an action at a specific time, Turkish often leaves the verb in the singular form. While bulabilirler wouldn't be strictly wrong, bulabilir sounds much more natural for this kind of general, timeless statement.
