Questions & Answers about Koordine etmek bir yana, rezalet yüzünden çok mahcubum.
How does bir yana work with the verb in the first half of the sentence?
The phrase bir yana translates to 'let alone' or 'aside from'. When placed directly after an infinitive verb ending in -mAk (like koordine etmek), it dismisses that action as completely unlikely or impossible, setting up a contrast with the current reality in the second clause.
Could I replace bir yana with şöyle dursun here?
Yes, you could say Koordine etmek şöyle dursun. Both bir yana and şöyle dursun are perfectly interchangeable in this grammar structure and create the exact same dismissive contrast ('let alone coordinating').
Why doesn't rezalet take a case ending before yüzünden?
The postposition yüzünden (because of / due to) requires a genitive case ending if it follows a pronoun or a specific, possessed noun (like benim yüzünden). However, when it follows a general, indefinite concept like rezalet (disgrace), the noun stays in its bare dictionary form.
Why is the word mahcup spelled with a 'b' in mahcubum?
This is a standard consonant mutation. The adjective mahcup (embarrassed) ends in the hard consonant 'p'. When the first-person 'to be' suffix -um ('I am') is added, the 'p' softens to its voiced counterpart 'b' to make the transition into the vowel smoother.
