Why does çok mean "too much" here instead of "a lot" or "very"?
In Turkish, çok is a very versatile word. It can mean "very" (like çok güzel - very beautiful), "a lot" (like çok kitap - a lot of books), or "too much" when complaining about an action, as in çok konuşuyorsun (you are talking too much). The exact meaning simply comes from the context of the sentence.
How do we break down the word konuşuyorsun?
It starts with the verb root konuş- (talk or speak). Then we add the present continuous tense suffix -uyor- (which shows the action is happening right now, like "-ing" in English). Finally, we add the "you" (singular informal) personal ending -sun. Put together, it means "you are talking".
Why does the personal ending use a "u" to become -sun?
