The suffix -la is the attached version of the word ile, which means "with". In Turkish, to say "about" something, you often use the combination ile ilgili (literally "related with"). So kitapla ilgili means "about the book".

Could I use hakkında instead of ilgili to say "about"?

Yes! You can also say Bu kitap hakkında konuşuyoruz. Both -lA ilgili and hakkında are very common ways to say "about" in Turkish. Notice that if you use hakkında, you just use the plain noun without the -la suffix.

How is the verb konuşuyoruz built?
