Questions & Answers about Kartları dağıtmak lazım, hangimiz yapıyor?
How does the word hangimiz break down to mean "which of us"?
It combines the question word hangi (which) with the first-person plural possessive suffix -miz (our). In Turkish, you literally say "our which" to mean "which of us". You can use the same pattern to say "which of you" (hanginiz) or "which of them" (hangisi).
Since hangimiz means "which of US", why is the verb yapıyor instead of the "we" form (yapıyoruz)?
This is a very common trap! Even though you are talking about a group of "us", the actual grammatical subject is the singular "which one". Because "which one" acts like a "he", "she", or "it", the verb must take the third-person singular form yapıyor.
Why is there an -ı on the end of kartları?
The -ı is the accusative case suffix. It marks kartları as the specific direct object of the verb dağıtmak (to deal). Using it means you are talking about dealing the cards (the specific deck for this game) rather than just dealing cards in general.
