Questions & Answers about Zemin için ya fayans ya da parke istiyorum.
Why is there a da at the end of ya fayans ya da parke?
The structure ya... ya... means "either... or...". It is very common to add da to the second part, making it ya... ya da.... It doesn't change the meaning at all, but it sounds a bit more natural and conversational to Turkish speakers.
Can I put ya da before the first option too?
No, the first choice must always begin with just ya. You only use ya da for the second option (and any extra options after that). So, ya fayans ya da parke is correct, but you cannot say ya da fayans....
Why don't fayans (tiles) and parke (hardwood) have accusative case endings since they are the objects of istiyorum (I want)?
Because you want tiles or hardwood in general, not specific ones you've already pointed out. When the object of a verb is general or indefinite (like saying "I want some tiles"), it does not take the accusative ending and stays in its plain form.
Could I use yer instead of zemin for "the floor"?
Yes, you could say yer için. Both words mean floor or ground. However, zemin is frequently used when talking about the actual surface or flooring material in architecture and home improvement, making it a great fit for this sentence.
