Questions & Answers about Güzel teklifi hemen kabul ettiler.
How does the word ettiler show that "they" did it in the past?
The base verb here is the helper verb etmek (to do/make). We drop the -mek to get the stem et-, add the past tense suffix -ti, and finally add the third-person plural suffix -ler to mean "they". Altogether, kabul ettiler means "they accepted".
Why are there two words for "accepted" (kabul ettiler)?
Turkish often pairs a noun with a helper verb like etmek to create a new action word. Kabul means "acceptance," so kabul etmek literally means "to do acceptance." When conjugating these compound verbs, all the suffixes for time and person attach to the helper verb.
Why does teklif (offer) have an -i at the end (teklifi)?
The -i is the specific direct object suffix (the accusative case). Because they didn't just accept any offer, but rather a specific one ("the nice offer"), we add this suffix to the noun receiving the action.
Why is hemen (immediately) placed right before the verb?
In Turkish word order, adverbs that describe how or when an action happens are usually placed directly before the verb they modify to emphasize them.
