It starts with the verb stem harca- (to spend). Next is the past tense suffix -dı. Finally, we add the personal suffix -m to show that "I" did the action. Notice that in the past tense, the "I" suffix is just -m, not the -im or -um you learned for the present tense!

Why does "last Friday" translate to geçen cuma?

The word geçen literally means "passing" or "that passed". In Turkish, you use geçen before a day, week, month, or year to say "last" (as in the previous one). So geçen cuma is "the Friday that passed" or "last Friday".

Since çok means "a lot", why doesn't para take the plural suffix (paralar)?
