Questions & Answers about Yeni program çok sıkıcı.
How would I use ne zaman from this lesson to ask 'When is the new program?'
You would replace the descriptive part (çok sıkıcı) with the question word. So you just say: Yeni program ne zaman? In Turkish, question words often sit exactly where the answer will go.
Where is the word for 'is' in this sentence?
There is no separate word for 'is' in Turkish. Instead, 'to be' is shown using suffixes on the final word. For 'it' (the third person singular), the suffix is usually left completely blank. So, placing çok sıkıcı at the end of the sentence automatically means 'is very boring'.
Why does yeni come before program, but sıkıcı comes after?
Yeni (new) is an adjective directly describing the noun, so it goes right before it, just like in English. Sıkıcı (boring) is the core message of the sentence, so it goes at the very end as the main action or state.
Does the ending -ıcı in sıkıcı mean anything special?
Yes! The ending -ıcı is often attached to verbs to create an adjective. Here, it comes from the verb sıkmak (to bore), turning it into the describing word sıkıcı (boring).
