Questions & Answers about Takımınız hazır mı?
How does the suffix in takımınız show who owns the team?
The root word is takım (team). To say "your team", we add the possessive suffix -ınız. Because the last vowel in takım is ı, 4-way vowel harmony tells us to use the -ınız version rather than -iniz, -unuz, or -ünüz.
Does takımınız mean "the team belonging to you all" or is it the polite formal "you"?
It can be either! Just like the pronoun siz (you), the possessive suffix -ınız is used both for the plural "you" (when talking to multiple people) and the polite or formal "you" (when talking to one person). Context will tell you which one is meant.
Why is the question particle mı written separately but still follows vowel harmony?
The question particle (mı, mi, mu, mü) is a special case. It is always written as a separate word, but it still looks at the word right before it to follow 4-way vowel harmony. Because the last vowel in hazır is ı, the particle becomes mı.
Where is the word for "is" in this sentence?
