Questions & Answers about Bavulun küçük mü?
How does the suffix on bavulun mean "your"?
The base word is bavul (suitcase). We add the 2nd person singular possessive suffix -un to mean "your". It uses the vowel u to follow 4-way vowel harmony with the u in bavul.
Could I say senin bavulun instead?
Yes, you can! Senin is the pronoun for "your". However, because the suffix -un already shows that the suitcase belongs to you, leaving out senin is very common and natural in spoken Turkish.
Why is the question particle mü here instead of mi?
The yes/no question particle always changes to match the last vowel of the word before it (4-way vowel harmony). Since küçük (small) ends with the vowel ü, the particle becomes mü.
Where is the word for "is" in this sentence?
Turkish doesn't use a separate word for "is" here. You simply put the subject (bavulun) and the adjective (küçük) next to each other, and add the question particle (mü) at the end to make it a question.
