The Postposition "için" (For)
In Turkish, için (for) indicates purpose or the intended recipient of something. As a postposition, it comes directly after the noun it relates to.

Beneficiaries and Pronouns
When using için with most personal pronouns or the question word kim (who), the pronoun takes the genitive (possessive) ending.
For example, kim becomes kimin, making kimin için "for whom." Similarly, o (he/she/it) becomes onun, making onun için "for him/her/it."

Expressing Purpose (In Order To)
To express "in order to" or explain why you are doing something, place için immediately after the dictionary form of the verb (the infinitive ending in -mak or -mek).
| I am studying to pass the exam. | Sınavı geçmek için ders çalışıyorum. |
| I am running fast to win. | Kazanmak için hızlı koşuyorum. |
Expressing Gratitude
A common use of için is giving thanks. State the thing you are grateful for, followed by için and a form of the verb teşekkür etmek (to thank).
