### Formal Conditions: "In the event that"

In formal Turkish—such as legal contracts, business agreements, and official rules—you will often see conditions expressed not with the standard **-se / -sa** (if), but with the phrase **takdirde** (in the event that / in case).

To create this formal conditional clause, we use the familiar verbal noun suffix **-dık / -dik / -duk / -dük**:

1. Start with the verb stem.
2. Add the **-dık** suffix (which usually undergoes consonant mutation to **-dığ-**, **-diğ-**, etc. because it is followed by a vowel).
3. Add a possessive suffix to indicate *who* is performing the action.
4. Follow it with the separate word **takdirde**.

For example, to say "in the event that you breach": 
**ihlal et** (breach) + **-diğ** + **-iniz** (your) + **takdirde** = **ihlal ettiğiniz takdirde**.

### Negative Conditions

To state what happens in the event of a failure to act (e.g., "in the event that you do *not*..."), insert the negative suffix **-ma / -me** directly onto the verb stem, right before the **-dık** suffix.
