Imminent action (-mak üzere)

Imminent Action: "-mak üzere"

When your phone is at 1% or a download is at 99%, the action is "about to" happen. In Turkish, you express that an action is on the verge of happening by using the full infinitive of the verb (-mak or -mek) followed by the word üzere.

The phone's battery is about to die.
Telefonun şarjı bitmek üzere.
This old cable is about to break.
Bu eski kablo kopmak üzere.

You can also ask if something is about to happen by adding the question particle mi after üzere.

Is the internet connection about to drop?
İnternet bağlantısı kopmak üzere mi?

Adding Personal Endings

Because üzere acts as the predicate of the sentence, it takes the "to be" personal suffixes to show who is about to do the action.

Since üzere ends in a vowel, remember to use the buffer y for "I" and "we". The suffixes will always be the same because üzere does not change its vowels:
