### The Reported Future Tense: `-(y)AcAkmIş`

When sharing rumors, repeating prophecies, or talking about future events you heard from someone else, use the reported future tense. You form this by combining the future tense suffix `-(y)AcAk` with the reported past suffix `-mIş`.

Because the future suffix uses A-type vowel harmony (`-acak` or `-ecek`), the reported suffix that follows will *always* be `-mış` (after `-acak`) or `-miş` (after `-ecek`).

You can easily use this tense with question words to ask what people are saying will happen. When dealing with folklore, you will also frequently hear it paired with phrases like *efsaneye göre* (according to legend) to state exactly where the hearsay comes from.

### Negative Reported Future

To talk about what supposedly will *not* happen, add the negative suffix `-mA` to the verb stem before the future endings. This gives you the ending `-mAyAcAkmIş`.

### Combining with Conditionals

Supernatural folklore, curses, and omens often rely on cause-and-effect conditions. You can pair a conditional "if" statement (like *doğruysa* for "if it is true" or *yoksa* for "if there is not") with the reported future tense to explain what will supposedly happen if a condition is met.
