When running errands with a friend, you often need to divide and conquer: "You keep doing this, while I handle that." To express that someone should continue an action uninterrupted, Turkish uses the continuous action compound verb (*Sürerlik Fiili*).

**Formula:** Verb Root + **-(y)a / -(y)e** + **durmak**

To build this, take the root of the action you want to continue, add the vowel **-a** or **-e** (using a buffer **-y-** if the root ends in a vowel), and attach the verb **durmak** (to stand / to stop). Think of it as "stay doing" something.

You can then conjugate **durmak** as a command (imperative) for **sen** (you) to tell your companion to keep working on their task while you go do yours.

### Plural Commands and Third Person

Because **durmak** acts as the main conjugated verb here, it follows standard verb rules. If you are speaking to a group (**siz**), simply attach the plural imperative ending **-un** to *durmak*.

### "Let Me Keep Doing"

You can also use this compound with the "let me" (optative) form. By adding **-ayım** to *durmak*, you can declare "let me keep doing" your current task while your companion runs a different errand.
