Questions & Answers about ในฐานะที่ คุณ เป็น หัวหน้า คุณ จะ ทุจริต ไม่ ได้ ครับ
Why do we use ในฐานะที่ instead of just ในฐานะ?
ในฐานะ is a preposition used directly before a noun, like ในฐานะหัวหน้า (as a boss). Because this sentence follows it with a full subject-verb clause, คุณเป็นหัวหน้า (you are the boss), we must add ที่ to turn it into a conjunction meaning 'in the capacity that...'.
Could I drop the pronoun and verb and just say ในฐานะหัวหน้า?
Yes, ในฐานะหัวหน้าคุณจะทุจริตไม่ได้ครับ is perfectly natural and more concise. Using the full phrase ในฐานะที่คุณเป็นหัวหน้า just puts a stronger, more direct emphasis on the listener's specific responsibility in this situation.
I usually hear โกง used for cheating or being corrupt. How is ทุจริต different?
ทุจริต is the formal, legal, and official term for corruption, fraud, or dishonesty. While โกง is common in everyday spoken Thai for cheating or scamming, ทุจริต is used in professional, governmental, or news contexts, which fits perfectly when talking about a boss's professional conduct.
What is the purpose of จะ (will) before ทุจริตไม่ได้ (cannot be corrupt)?
While จะ often marks the future tense, placing it before a negative capability like ไม่ได้ softens a strict command into a strong logical consequence. Instead of a blunt direct order, it frames it as 'It is not acceptable that you would be corrupt' or 'You wouldn't be able to get away with being corrupt'.
