Questions & Answers about จังหวัด บาง แห่ง ใช้ ภาษาถิ่น เหมือนกัน แต่ แต่ละ แห่ง ก็ มี สำเนียง ต่างกัน
Why does the second half of the sentence say แต่ละ แห่ง instead of repeating the word for province (จังหวัด)?
The word แต่ละ (each) must be followed directly by a classifier. Here, แห่ง is the classifier for places or locations, which was already established in the first clause to refer to จังหวัด (provinces). In Thai, once the noun is understood from context, you usually drop it and just use แต่ละ + Classifier (literally 'each place').
Notice how 'some provinces' is จังหวัด บาง แห่ง but 'each place' is just แต่ละ แห่ง. Why is the structure different?
When using บาง (some), the standard word order is Noun + บาง + Classifier. The determiner แต่ละ (each) also requires a classifier, but if you include the noun, the order is Noun + แต่ละ + Classifier (like จังหวัด แต่ละ แห่ง). Because the noun is already known in this sentence, it is simply dropped, leaving just แต่ละ + Classifier.
Both เหมือนกัน (same) and ต่างกัน (different) end in กัน. What does this do?
The word กัน means 'together' or 'each other'. When attached to adjectives like เหมือน (like/similar) or ต่าง (different), it shows a relationship between multiple things. So, เหมือนกัน means they are the same as each other, and ต่างกัน means they differ from each other.
What is the purpose of ก็ right after แต่ละ แห่ง?
The particle ก็ is often used in the second half of a sentence to link ideas smoothly, especially after a contrast. Here it pairs with แต่ (but) to add a feeling of 'also' to the contrast: 'but each place also has...'. Leaving it out wouldn't change the main meaning, but including it makes the flow sound much more natural to a Thai speaker.
