The quantity modifier (เยอะ)

The Quantity Modifier เยอะ

In spoken Thai, the word เยอะ (a lot / plenty) expresses abundance, large quantities, or excessive actions.

Unlike English, which places "a lot of" before a noun, Thai places เยอะ directly after the noun it modifies.

To express that an action happens to a high degree or excessively, place เยอะ after the verb or at the end of the verb phrase.

Discussing Over-tourism

A heavy influx of visitors can make local areas chaotic (วุ่นวาย) and affect the local people (คนท้องถิ่น). The verb ทำให้ (to make / to cause) is often used to explain how crowds cause locals to feel frustrated (หงุดหงิด) or uncomfortable (อึดอัด).

Over-tourism can also leave nature damaged (เสียหาย). This congestion often involves excessive physical behaviors, such as scrambling (แย่ง) or squeezing (เบียด) into tight spaces. Place เยอะ after these action verbs to emphasize the intensity of the crowds.
