Offering choices (หรือ)

Presenting Choices

To offer a choice between two options, use the conjunction หรือ (or). You can use it to link nouns, adjectives, or entire phrases by placing it directly between the two options.

Weather and Seasons

You can easily ask about the weather (อากาศ) or seasons (ฤดู) by combining หรือ with adjectives or nouns to see which condition applies, or to ask which season someone prefers.

Describing Weather Conditions

When describing conditions outside (ข้างนอก), you will often talk about whether sunlight (แดด) is coming out (ออก) or if the wind (ลม) is strong (แรง).

Preparing for the Weather

To talk about bringing items with you to face the weather, use the verb พก (to carry or pack). You can combine this with หรือ to ask what someone plans to bring, such as an umbrella (ร่ม).
