### Embedding Questions

When you want to say "I don't know *who came*" or "He asked *where it is*," you are using an indirect question. In Thai, embedding a question inside a statement requires a familiar connecting word: ว่า.

While ว่า is often translated as "that" (as in "He said that..."), it is also the mandatory bridge used to link verbs of thinking, knowing, or communicating directly to a question clause.

The structure is simple: **Verb** + **ว่า** + **Question Clause**

Let's put on our detective hats. When you are trying to figure out a secret or a mystery, you will frequently use verbs like เดา (to guess), รู้ (to know), or its formal equivalent ทราบ, followed by ว่า and your question.
