Expressing "Too Much" with เกินไป and ไป
To express that a quality is excessive, use the degree modifier เกินไป (too much) or its shorter, conversational form ไป (too).
Unlike English, Thai places these modifiers immediately after the stative verb (adjective). Let's see how this works with clothes, using คับ (tight) and หลวม (loose).
| This shirt is too tight. | เสื้อ ตัว นี้ คับ เกินไป ครับ |
| Is this skirt too tight? | กระโปรง ตัว นี้ คับ ไป ไหม ครับ |

Describing Weight
Use the same pattern to talk about weight with หนัก (heavy) and เบา (light).

| I don't want to lift it because it is too heavy. | ผม ไม่ อยาก ยก เพราะ มัน หนัก ไป ครับ |

Tasting Extreme Flavors
เกินไป and ไป are perfect for pointing out intense flavors like เปรี้ยว (sour) and ขม (bitter).
