The Classifier for Abstract Concepts
When counting nouns in Thai, you must use a classifier. For abstract or conceptual nouns—such as reasons, points, rules, or conditions—the appropriate classifier is ประการ.

To state the quantity of these concepts, follow the standard Thai counting word order: Noun + Number + Classifier.

Navigating Legal and Technical Clauses
When reading strict texts like a software licensing agreement, you will often need to identify lists of prohibitions or safety measures. Because these are abstract points, they are also counted using ประการ.
| You must strictly comply with the four prohibitions. | คุณ ต้อง ปฏิบัติตาม ข้อห้าม สี่ ประการ อย่าง เคร่งครัด ครับ |
| If you do not want to breach the contract, you must remember the five precautions. | ถ้า ไม่ อยาก ผิดสัญญา คุณ ต้อง จำ ข้อควรระวัง ห้า ประการ ค่ะ |
Using "Several", "Another", and "First"
Instead of an exact number, you can use quantifiers like หลาย (several) or อีกหนึ่ง (another one) in the number slot.
| This condition has several prohibitions that the user must comply with. | เงื่อนไข นี้ มี ข้อห้าม หลาย ประการ ที่ ผู้ใช้ ต้อง ปฏิบัติตาม ค่ะ |
| Another main point is the liability regarding intellectual property. | สาระสำคัญ อีก หนึ่ง ประการ คือ ความรับผิด เรื่อง ทรัพย์สินทางปัญญา ครับ |
When you want to specify the "first" item in a sequence, the structure changes slightly. Place the word แรก (first) directly after the classifier (Noun + Classifier + แรก).
| The first precaution relates to the warranty of the software. | ข้อควรระวัง ประการ แรก เกี่ยวข้อง กับ การรับประกัน ซอฟต์แวร์ ครับ |
