Questions & Answers about Ska vi köpa en bunt papper?
Why is there no word for "of" between bunt and papper?
In Swedish, measure words and containers are placed directly next to the noun they quantify without a preposition. Just as you are learning with unit pricing where the preposition is dropped (such as tio kronor kilot), expressions of quantity do exactly the same thing. You simply say en bunt papper rather than adding a word like av.
Why use ska for "should" here instead of borde?
While borde translates to "should" when giving advice or talking about obligations, ska vi is the most natural way to make a casual suggestion about a joint action. It functions like "shall we" or "should we" in English. Saying borde vi köpa would sound overly serious, as if asking whether it is morally or practically necessary to buy it.
Is papper here singular or plural?
It is singular. When referring to the material itself, papper acts as an uncountable mass noun, just like in English. If you were referring to specific documents or individual sheets, it would be plural (which also happens to be papper because it is an ett word ending in a consonant), but here the focus is on the raw material.
Can en bunt be used for groups of people, like "a bunch of people"?
