Questions & Answers about Hennes fingertoppskänsla blir fulländad efterhand som hon övar.
Why use efterhand som here instead of just medan (while)?
Efterhand som specifically means "gradually as" or "in proportion as". While medan just means two things happen at the same time, efterhand som emphasizes that her intuitive feel improves as a direct, gradual result of her ongoing practice.
Fingertoppskänsla is an interesting word. What does it literally mean?
It literally translates to "fingertip feeling". It is a very common and expressive Swedish word for having a sharp intuition, a delicate touch, or a finely tuned instinct for handling complex situations, similar to having a "feel" for something in English.
Why is the word for perfected written as fulländad and not fulländat?
Fulländad is a past participle acting as an adjective. It must agree with the gender of the noun it describes. Since it describes fingertoppskänsla, which is built on the en-word känsla, it takes the en-word form fulländad. If it were describing an ett-word, it would be fulländat.
Could I use allteftersom in this sentence instead of efterhand som?
Yes, absolutely. Allteftersom and efterhand som are completely interchangeable in this context. Both perfectly capture the progressive, simultaneous change of her practicing and her skills improving.
