Questions & Answers about Vi ska producera nya produkter.
Why is ska used here instead of kommer att for the future tense?
While both can translate to "will," they carry different nuances. Ska implies a plan, intention, or a decision made by the speaker (we have decided to produce these). Kommer att is generally used for predictions or events happening naturally outside of the subject's direct control.
Why does the adjective ny have an -a at the end in this sentence?
Adjectives in Swedish have to agree with the noun they describe. Since produkter (products) is plural, the adjective takes the plural form, which means adding an -a to become nya.
How do we know the plural of produkt ends in -er?
Produkt is an en-word that has its stress on the final syllable (pro-DUKT). In Swedish, international loanwords ending in a consonant with the stress on the last syllable almost always take the -er ending in the plural.
Could I use the verb tillverka instead of producera here?
Yes, absolutely! Tillverka means "to manufacture" or "make" and is great for physical goods. Producera means "to produce" and is slightly broader, as it can be used for physical goods but also for services, media, or energy. For "products," both are completely natural.
