Why do we use "Me basta" instead of "Yo basto"?
The verb bastar (to be enough) works just like gustar. Instead of saying "I have enough," Spanish phrases it as "It is enough for me." That is why we use the indirect object pronoun me instead of the subject pronoun yo.
Why is the word "con" (with) used in this sentence?
If I wanted to say "Two coffees are enough," would I need to make "basta" plural?
If you keep the word con, the verb stays singular: Me basta con dos cafés (It is enough for me with two coffees). However, if you take out con, the coffees become the subject of the sentence, just like with gustar, and the verb must become plural to match: Me bastan dos cafés (Two coffees are enough for me). Both options are completely correct!
