Why do we add '-es' to make árboles instead of just adding '-s'?
Because the singular word árbol ends in a consonant (the letter 'l'). In Spanish, when a noun ends in a consonant, you make it plural by adding '-es'. If the noun ended in a vowel, you would just add '-s'.
Why is there an accent mark on árboles?
The singular word árbol has an accent mark to show that your voice should stress the first syllable. When you add '-es' to make it plural, you keep the accent mark on the 'a' so that the spoken stress stays on that exact same sound.
Why is the verb form vemos and not vamos?
