Double object pronouns (se lo, se la)

When using an indirect object pronoun (le or les) and a direct object pronoun (lo, la, los, or las) together, Spanish has a special rule: le and les change to se (to avoid saying "le lo").

Placing Before Conjugated Verbs

The indirect object (se) always comes first. With a conjugated verb, place both pronouns before it.

We collect garments for the needy people and give them to them.
Recolectamos prendas para las personas necesitadas y se las damos.
The orphanage needs the donation, and we will send it to them tomorrow.
El orfanato necesita la donación y se la enviaremos mañana.

Attaching to Infinitives

With infinitives, you can attach both pronouns to the end of the verb. You'll need to add an accent mark to the verb's original stressed syllable to maintain the correct pronunciation.

What a beautiful charity! We have the donation and want to deliver it to them soon.
¡Qué hermosa caridad! Tenemos la donación y queremos entregársela pronto.
He collects garments and wants to give them to the needy man.
Él recolecta prendas y quiere dárselas al hombre necesitado.

Attaching to Commands

With affirmative commands, you must attach both pronouns to the end of the verb. Again, add an accent mark to maintain the verb's natural stress.

The grandfather asked for some garments; please, give them to him.
El abuelo pidió unas prendas; por favor, dáselas.
You collect a lot of money for the charity. Send it to them now!
Ustedes recolectan mucho dinero para la caridad. ¡Envíenselo ahora!
