The Days of the Week
Days of the week in Spanish are always masculine and are not capitalized.
| English | Spanish |
|---|---|
| Monday | el lunes |
| Tuesday | el martes |
| Wednesday | el miércoles |
| Thursday | el jueves |
| Friday | el viernes |
| Saturday | el sábado |
| Sunday | el domingo |
Saying "On" a Specific Day
You don't need a translation for "on" with days of the week. Just use the singular definite article el.
| On Monday we visit the museum. | El lunes visitamos el museo. |
| I do not work on Saturday and Sunday. | No trabajo el sábado y el domingo. |
Recurring Days (Plural)
If something happens regularly, use the plural article los.
Because Monday through Friday already end in -s, the day itself doesn't change (los lunes). For Saturday and Sunday, add an -s to the end of the word (los sábados, los domingos).
| We visit the park on Saturdays. | Visitamos el parque los sábados. |
| Classes finish on Tuesdays and Thursdays. | Las clases terminan los martes y los jueves. |
