Questions & Answers about Строчка здесь такая же ровная, как на настоящей сумке.
Why does this sentence use такая же instead of так же?
We use forms of такой же when comparing nouns and adjectives. Here, it modifies the adjective ровная (even) which describes the noun строчка (stitching). If we were comparing how an action was done using an adverb (like saying it was sewn just as evenly), we would use так же.
Why do we use the feminine form такая instead of такой?
The comparison phrase must agree in gender and number with the noun being compared. Since строчка is a feminine singular noun, both the comparison word (такая) and the adjective (ровная) take their feminine singular forms. If we were comparing a masculine noun like шов (seam), it would be такой же ровный.
Why is the word for 'real' in the form настоящей?
It is in the prepositional case to match the noun it describes, сумке. The preposition на here indicates location (on the bag), which triggers the prepositional case. The feminine nominative adjective настоящая (real/genuine) changes to настоящей.
Does строчка only mean 'stitching'?
Not always. Строчка literally means a 'little line' (from строка, meaning 'line'). While it often means a line of text on a page, in the context of bags, clothing, or sewing, it specifically refers to a line of stitches or stitching.
