Questions & Answers about Врач посмотрит ваш снимок через минуту.
Why do we use через here to say 'in a minute'?
While через usually means 'through' or 'across', it is the standard preposition used for future time projections to mean 'in' or 'after' a certain amount of time. It always triggers the Accusative case, which is why the feminine noun минута changes its ending to become минуту.
Why isn't there a future tense word like будет before the verb посмотрит?
посмотрит is a perfective verb, meaning it focuses on a successfully completed action. Perfective verbs don't use the helper word будет (will be) to form the future tense. Instead, when you conjugate them using standard verb endings, they automatically refer to the future!
The doctor is looking at 'your x-ray', so why didn't ваш снимок change its ending for the Accusative case?
It actually is in the Accusative case! Because снимок is a masculine inanimate noun (an object, not a living person or animal), its Accusative form is identical to its basic Nominative dictionary form. The same rule applies to the modifier ваш.
Does the word снимок specifically mean 'x-ray'?
Generally, снимок just means a 'photograph' or 'shot' (related to the verb снимать, to take a picture). However, in a medical setting like this one, it is the standard, everyday shorthand for рентгеновский снимок (an x-ray picture).
