Questions & Answers about Что ты будешь искать завтра?
Why do we use two words (будешь искать) for the future tense here?
This sentence uses the compound future tense, which is built by combining a conjugated form of the verb "to be" (будешь for "you") with the infinitive or dictionary form of the main action verb (искать).
Can I use a perfective verb after будешь?
No, that is a strict rule in Russian: the future forms of быть (like будешь) can only ever be followed by an imperfective verb. Perfective verbs express completion and form their future tense in a single word, so they never use быть.
Is Что the subject of this sentence?
No, the subject is ты (you). Что is the direct object here, because it is the thing being looked for. Since "what" is an inanimate concept, its accusative form (the case used for direct objects) looks exactly the same as its basic nominative form.
Does искать just mean "to look"?
It specifically means "to look for" or "to search". You do not need to add an extra word for "for" in Russian; the verb искать already includes that meaning entirely on its own.
