Learn Romanian: Dat fiind că previziunea este negativă, vom anula proiectul. - Given that the forecast is negative, we will cancel the project.

Even though it sets up a situation, dat fiind că introduces a factual cause rather than a hypothetical condition. Because it essentially means "since this is a fact," it requires the indicative mood, just like pentru că (because).

Does dat fiind need to change to a feminine form to agree with the feminine noun previziunea?

No, because the addition of că turns it into a fixed, invariable conjunction. If you removed că, the phrase would act as a participial adjective and would have to agree with the feminine noun, becoming dată fiind previziunea. Using the fixed dat fiind că is often much easier for learners!

Is previziunea the best word to use if this were a weather forecast?

Not usually. Previziune refers to a general prediction or forecast, most often used in business, economics, or data trends (which fits perfectly with canceling a project). For a weather forecast, you would typically use the word prognoza (as in prognoza meteo).

Can we move dat fiind că to the middle of the sentence?

Yes, you can absolutely say Vom anula proiectul, dat fiind că previziunea este negativă. Just like in English, starting with the causal clause emphasizes the reason, while putting it at the end emphasizes the resulting action.
