Questions & Answers about Dacă vrei, putem pleca acum.
Why are there no words for "you" and "we" in this sentence?
In Romanian, pronouns like tu (you) and noi (we) are usually dropped because the verb itself tells you who is doing the action. Vrei already means "you want" and putem means "we can". Adding the pronouns (Dacă tu vrei, noi putem...) is grammatically correct but usually only done if you want to add extra emphasis.
Why is it putem pleca instead of putem să plecăm?
The verb a putea (can / to be able to) is special. You can follow it directly with the dictionary form of the next verb, just dropping the "a" (so a pleca becomes just pleca). This makes putem pleca ("we can leave"). You can definitely still say putem să plecăm—both are completely correct and very common, so you can use whichever is easier for you!
Can I use pleca to say I am leaving my keys on the table?
Do I need to learn a special tense to use dacă (if)?
Not for everyday sentences like this one! To say "if you want", you just use dacă followed by the normal present tense verb vrei. For realistic, present-moment conditions, it works exactly like English.
