How are the words patruzeci and șaizeci put together?
Romanian builds numbers in tens very logically. You take the base number and add zeci, which is the plural of zece (ten). So, patru (four) + zeci = patruzeci (forty). For sixty, the word șase (six) changes its spelling slightly to șai before joining with zeci to make șaizeci.
Why do we need the word de after the numbers?
In Romanian, whenever you count things using a number from 20 onwards, you must put the connecting word de (which usually means "of") between the number and the noun. So you literally say "forty of men" (patruzeci de bărbați) and "sixty of women" (șaizeci de femei).
What are the singular forms of bărbați and femei?
The singular for man is bărbat, and for woman it is femeie. Notice how the plural forms end in -i. Adding or changing the ending to -i is a very common way to make words plural in Romanian.
Do I always have to use the pronoun noi before vedem?
No, it is optional! Because the verb ending in vedem already tells us that "we" are doing the action, you can drop the word noi and just start the sentence with Vedem... The meaning stays exactly the same.
