### "In Spite Of": În ciuda & În pofida

To say "in spite of" or "despite", Romanian uses the phrases *în ciuda* or *în pofida*. Both of these expressions must be followed by a noun in the Genitive case.

### "Although" and "Even If": Deși, Chiar dacă, Cu toate că

When you want to say "although," "even if," or "even though," you can use the conjunctions *deși*, *chiar dacă*, or *cu toate că*. Unlike the prepositional phrases above, these connect two full clauses and are followed by a subject and a verb.
