Live Music and Acoustics
Going to a music festival is all about experiencing the music live.
Sometimes things do not go perfectly—you might have bad weather or poor acoustics (acustica). Here is how to describe enjoying a performance regardless of the conditions.
"In Spite Of": În ciuda & În pofida
To say "in spite of" or "despite", Romanian uses the phrases în ciuda or în pofida. Both of these expressions must be followed by a noun in the Genitive case.
"Although" and "Even If": Deși, Chiar dacă, Cu toate că
When you want to say "although," "even if," or "even though," you can use the conjunctions deși, chiar dacă, or cu toate că. Unlike the prepositional phrases above, these connect two full clauses and are followed by a subject and a verb.
If you want to talk about the heavy bass (basul) at a concert, you might use chiar dacă (even if):
The Crowd's Reaction
A great show gets the crowd moving. You will often hear an enthusiastic (entuziast) audience cheer (a ovaționa) and chant (a scanda) for the performers.
Lyrics and Choruses
Singing along is the best part of a concert, whether you know every single lyric (versul) or just the main chorus (refrenul). Here is how you can use cu toate că (even though) to describe jumping into the song:
The Encore
At the end of the night, the roar (vuietul) of the crowd is what brings the band back out to the stage for an encore (bisul).
